NASA Cargo Transfer Bags

Cargo Transfer Bags (CTBs) are the primary containers used by NASA to send cargo to the International Space Station. After the ISS Program approves a flight manifest, hardware providers send their hardware to be processed for flight. Cargo launch and return requirements are defined by the hardware owners and these are used to pack the cargo for flight. Different CTB sizes support a wide variety of hardware and also allow for the best use of the available volume and mass in the various vehicles going to ISS.

CTBs are built to withstand launch, on-orbit and return operations for a number of flight cycles. A focus on materials and methods of construction is essential to provide the most efficient and cost effective product to NASA.
